BRIEF HISTORY

Traffic Training Institute, created under 7th Finance Commission award came into existence with a motto to train police personnel of Odisha Police in different aspects of traffic management. This institute has been renamed as Urban Police and Traffic Training Institute (UP & TTI) w.e.f 01.01.2008 vide Home department notification no. 60911/D&A dtd.28.12.2007. It has been placed under the administrative control of Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack since 1st January 2008.

TRAINING

UP & TTI imparts training to Police Personnel of different ranks including SI/Sgt/Dy. Subedar, ASI, Havildar, Driver Havildar, Constable, Asst Driver, fireman, Home guards etc. Since its inception, 767 SI/Sgt in 59 batches, 28 SI CISF in one batch, 1236 Driver Havildar/Asst Drivers in 54 batches, 728 Home guards in 24 batches, 403 Home guards of Twin cities of  Bhubaneswar-Cuttack and 1175 Havildars in 49 batches and 311 Fireman in 12 batches, total 8319 personnel, have undergone training at this institute.

Beside 25 batches of Recruit constables (men) consisting of 3800 and five batches of women Recruits constables consisting of 971 personnel have undergone Basic Constable course of Training in this institute.

Recently, 121 CASI  of Commissionerate Police have undergone their promotional course of training and left the institute on 16.09.2021 for their new places of postings to serve the people.

ACHIEVEMENT

One Havildar of UP & TTI was bestowed with Presidents Police Medal for Meritorious Service for the year 2020. Besides one ACP, two Havildar and two Constable were awarded with DGP”s Commendation Roll for the year 2019 & 2020.

PROPOSAL

A new Traffic Training park is going to be constructed to impart traffic training to school students with an aim to create awareness among school students and with a view to make them a traffic rule abiding citizen.
