1. CRACK DOWN ON DRUG MAFIAS
(i) On receipt of reliable information regarding presence of three drug peddlers with contraband articles (Brown Sugar) on a motor cycle bearing Regn. No. OD 21 M 2373 inside a mango groove at the outskirt of village Tinigharia, a raid was conducted. As a result, 01 Kgs & 120 Gms of brown sugar (Heroin) worth Rs.1.10 Crore was seized from the possession of the accused persons at Tinigharia under Mandhupatna limit. Three accused persons were arrested and forwarded to Court in Madhupatna PS case No.123 dtd.02.06.2021 u/s-21(C) of NDPS Act registered in this connection.
(ii) On receipt of reliable information regarding transportation of Brown Sugar, an operation was conducted and 01 Kg & 159 grams of brown sugar(Heroin) worth Rs.1.10 Crore, a cash of Rs.59,000/-, Mobile Phones and motorcycles were seized from the possession of the accused persons on the Eastern Side of RNT College under Lalbag PS jurisdiction. Six accused persons were arrested and forwarded to Court in Lalbag PS case No.206 dtd.08.08.2021 u/s-21(C) of NDPS Act registered in this connection.
(iii) Acting on a tip off, 01 Kg & 038 gms of brown sugar (Heroin) worth 01 Crore, Car, Bike and Cell phones were seized from the possession of the accused persons at Madhusudan Setu, Police Check Post under CDA Phase-II PS limit. 03 accused persons were arrested and forwarded to Court in CDA Phase-II PS case No.44 dtd.06.06.2021 u/s-21(C) of NDPS Act registered in this connection.
2. PROFESSIONAL BIKE LIFTER GANGS BUSTED
(i) On 29.08.2021, when one Smruti Ranjan Behura was returning to his home from Apollo Medicine Store of Mahanadi Vihar, on his way in front of Kamalakanta Vidhyapitha, 02 unknown culprits snatched away his scooter bearing Regn. No.OD-05AK 0143. On receipt of information, police worked on the leads in the case and an inter-district gang of bike lifters was busted and 32 numbers of stolen motor cycles were recovered. Nine professional bike lifters were arrested and forwarded to Court in Malgodwon PS case No.178 dtd.29.08.2021 u/s-341/294/392/ 506/34 IPC registered in this connection.On 28.04.2021, during M.V. checking by Chauliaganj PS staff at OMP Chhak, one stolen motorcycle was detected and its rider was detained. On developing further leads in the case, 18 numbers of stolen motorcycles were recovered from different places and 3 professional bike lifters were arrested and forwarded to the court in Chauliaganj PS case No.169 dtd.28.04.2021 u/s-379/411/34 IPC registered in this connection.
(ii) On 27.01.2021, one Debashis Mohapatra reported that, his Honda Activa Scooter bearing Regn. No.OD-33Q 5829 which stood in the name of his Aunt, was stolen away from ICICI Bank, Madhupatna Square on 01.10.2020. Investigating into the complaint, an inter-district gang of bike lifters was busted and 15 numbers of stolen motor cycles were seized from 02 professional bike lifters. These 2 accused persons were arrested and forwarded in Madhupatna PS case No.21 dtd.27.01.2021 u/s-379 IPC registered in this connection.
3. SPECIAL DRIVE AGAINST FOOD ADULTERATION
(i) As part of special drive against adulterated food articles, raids were conducted at village Mukameswar and Sasol on 06.01.2021 & 15.01.2021 respectively. Police unearthed a godown of spurious and adulterated tea powder manufacturing unit at village Mukameswar and seized spurious tea and raw materials worth Rs. 55.5 lakhs. One person was arrested and forwarded to Court in Sadar PS case No.16 dtd.06.01.2021 u/s-420/272/273 IPC/ 51/52/53/56/57/63 Foods Safety and Standards Act/ 16 Prevention of Food Adulteration Act/ 32 of Legal Metrology Packing of Commodities Rules-2011 registered in this connection.
(ii) Another unit of packing, storage & trading of spurious and adulterated tobacco panmasala (Zarda) styled as “Jay Maa Durga” at village Sasol, was raided and a huge quantity of panmasala & tobacco and raw materials worth Rs. 22.00 lakhs were seized from village Sasol and one person was arrested and forwarded to Court. Sadar PS registered case No.35 dtd.15.01.2021 u/s-420/272/273/34 IPC/51/52/53/56/57/59/63 Foods Safety and Standards Act/ 16 Prevention of Food Adulteration Act/ 13/32 of Legal Metrology Packing of Commodities Rules-2011 in this connection.
4. CRACK DOWN ON PROFESSIONAL CHAIN SNATCHING GANG
On 13.01.2021 at about 3.00 PM, while complainant Sabita Jena was traveling to her relative’s house, on her way near Ujivana Finance Bank, Phulnakhara, 02 miscreants snatched her gold chain. During investigation, an organised chain snatching gang active on NH was busted. Nine numbers of gold chains, 02 Mangalsutras worth Rs. 5 lakh with motorcycles involved in crime were seized from the possession of accused persons. 04 accused persons were arrested and forwarded to the court in Sadar PS case No.31 dtd.13.01.2021 u/s-392/34 IPC registered in this connection.
5. DACOITY GANG BUSTED
On 18.05.2021 at about 12.03 PM, one Bhagyadhar Behera reported that in the intervening night of 17/18.05.2021 at about 01.00 AM, 05 culprits being equipped with sword and knife entered in his house and snatched one mangalsutra from the neck of his wife and took away other gold ornaments etc including a cash of about Rs.10,000/-from the almirah on the point of weapon and threatened to kill them. Soon after receipt of information, Police swung into action and arrested 06 accused persons, recovering one Gold Mangalsutra, 02 gold chains, one pair of gold bangles, 04 gold rings, gold ear rings, gold lockets and 02 pairs of silver anklets from them. All the six accused persons were arrested and forwarded to Court in Choudwar PS case No.212 dtd.08.05.2021 u/s-395 IPC registered in this connection.
