With a view to providing enhanced safety and security, Senior Citizens Security Cells (SCSC) have been started at all the Police Stations of the this Commissionerate. Each Cell is headed by an officer of the rank of S.I. of Police, designated as the ‘Nodal Officer’ who is assisted by at least one constable designated as assistant nodal officer. These Cells functions under the immediate supervision of the IIC of the concerned P.S and their overall functioning is monitored by Commissionerate Hdqrs., Bhubaneswar.
The objectives of Senior Citizens Security Cells are :-
a) Co-ordinate safety and security of Senior Citizens with the help of local police.
b) Sensitize Senior Citizens about different aspects of their safety and security.
c) Assist Senior Citizens in their personnel problems, as far as practicable.
d) Ensure regular interaction with Senior Citizens through home visits.
e) Co-ordinate police verification of domestic help(s)/ tenants by local police stations etc.
Registration of Senior Citizens
A senior citizen can register himself/herself with Senior Citizen Security Cell of Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar- Cuttack in the following manner:
- Citizen can apply online through https://csc.lokaseba-odisha.in registering as new user.
- Citizen can apply through any nearest CSC Centre(Jana Seva Kendra).
- Citizen can also apply by submitting his/her application in prescribed form at local police station.
Pre requisite for Senior Citizen to apply Online
The senior citizen should get ready with the following before applying online for registration:
- Scanned photograph (size between 20kb to 50kb)
- Scanned signature (Size between 5kb to 20kb)
- Copy of Aadhaar Card (as Identity proof)
- Valid mobile number
How to Apply Online?
For applying only senior citizen should go to https://csc.lokaseba-odisha.in and after clicking on “Login” it will prompt to click on register as a citizen. After registering in to the system the user will get a user ID and Password. The Senior citizen can log in in to the system by entering the above credential as citizen login.
After logging in, user needs to select Department “Home Department” and Service “Registration for Senior Citizen Card”. User needs to fill in all the required details, upload scanned photo and signature and click on “Register and Next”, upload Aadhaar card document and click Submit.
Checking status Online
After logging in to the system with provided login ID and Password, the applicant can check the status of his/her application in status tab. Registration is likely to take 10-15 days as applicant will be visited by Nodal/Asst. Nodal Officer for verification. Soon after online submission of verification report, application will be processed at Commissionerate Headquarter and Identity Card will be printed and delivered to the applicant along with Senior Citizen Driving Sticker etc.
Visit to Senior Citizens
Nodal Officers of Senior Citizens Security Cells have been advised to visit registered Senior Citizens of their P.S jurisdiction at least once every fortnight. Each visit is made after prior appointment. During such visits, the Nodal Officers ascertain the well-being of the Senior Citizens, physical security aspects of their houses and also render suitable advice about enhancing their physical security by installing protective grill fencing, door chains, magic eye etc. The Nodal Officers also attend to the personal problems/ sundry tasks of the senior citizens, as far as practicable . Verification of the domestic help(s)/tenants is also ascertained during such visits.
In order to sensitize them about different aspects of their safety and security, all registered Senior Citizens have been provided with a copy of Do’s and Don’ts for Senior Citizens.
A Telephone Directory containing all emergency numbers and those of members of SCSCs, local P.S staff, DCP, Zonal ACP, hospitals, fire station, airport, local gas agency, OMFED Booth, medicine shops, electrician, plumbers, PHD/Electrical authorities etc. have also been provided to the Senior Citizens
