1. SHORT HISTORY   The Traffic Training Institute was created under award of 7th Finance Commission. The institute came into existence, with the motto to train police personnel in different aspects of Traffic training and management. This Institute has been designated as Urban Police & Traffic Training Institute w.e.f 01.01.08 vide Govt.of Orissa Home Department Notification No.60911/D&A Dt.28/12/07 and functioning under the administrative control of Commissioner of Police, BBSR-CTC.   2. FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY   The institute imparts basic course of Traffic Training to police personnel in the rank of SI/Sgt, Havildar, Dr. Havildar, Constable, Asst. Driver, Fire man & Home Guards. The institute  conducts basic course of training for newly recruited Constables (men & women).   4. IMPORTANT MILESTONES   This institute has been assigned the responsibility to conduct Basic Course of Training for Women Recruit Constables since 2005 and 776 WRCs in four batches have completed their Basic Course of Training so far. The trainees of this Institute have exhibited their excellent performance in the field of Games & Sports.   WRC/443 Mamta Panda of Ganjam dist. While undergoing Constable course of Training in this Institute during the year 2007 got Bronze medal in Boxing (46kg) weight category in 33rd National Games-2007 held at Guwahati from 09.02.2007 to 18.02.2007, she also got gold medal in 2nd All India Women Boxing Championship 2007, organized by Uttarakhand Amateur Boxing Association held from 27.05.07 to 01.06.2007.   5. TRAINING RECORD   Since Inception of this institute,637 SI/Sgts. In 46 Batches, 28 SI CISF in one Batch, 1205 Havildars in 25 Batches, 1332 Constables in 45 Batches, 587 Asst. Driver in 43 Batches, 453 Home Guards in 20 Batches, 232 Home Guards of Twin City Bhubaneswar_Cuttack in one day capsule course & 167 leading Fireman in 11 Batches, total 4641 have under gone Traffic course of training. Besides 18 Batches of Recruit constables (men) consisting of 2318 & 5 batches of women Recruit constables, consisting of 971  personnel have undergone Basic Constables course of Training in this Institute.   6. NATURE OF TRAINING   The following training courses have been conducted for the police personnel of different ranks in the institute.   Basic Traffic Training for Constables. Basic Traffic Training for Havildar. Basic Traffic Training for SI / Sgt. Piloting / Protection/ out-riding in VIP Security Course. Capsule Traffic Training course for Driver Havildar/Asst. Driver. Traffic Training course for Home Guards. Recruit Constables Basic/ Advance course Armourers Course of Training for Sgt & R. I s.     The institute also conducts traffic awareness and Road safety education programme for students in different Schools of BBSR-CTC Police Commissionerate as well as for the public drivers.
