I extend my warm wishes to the Citizens of twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and also to all the officers/men/women of Commissionerate Police.
Rapid growth in population, urbanisation and technological advancement have posed serious challenges for police. Commissionerate Police has adopted the policy of '0' tolerance towards crime particularly the crime against women, senior citizens and weaker sections of the society. Crime against property, drug abuse and traffic management are high on priority.
It gives me immense satisfaction to state that due to bold steps of the Commissionerate police organised crime could be demolished. Gangstars, criminals, tender mafias, antisocial in large number are now confined to judicial custody. Huge amount of stolen property could be recovered and restored to its lawful owners. This was possible only due to sustained support and assistance from general public.
We will further intensify our efforts to win confidence and trust of the general public by frequent police-public interface, interaction with senior citizens, students and various other stakeholders.
In course of the year we were able to replace some of the PCR vehicles, provide motor cycles and smart phones to the Nodal and Asst. Nodal Officers of Senior Citizen Security Cell, deploy two Traffic Interceptor vehicles on NH-16 to prevent speeding and provide bodyworn cameras and dashboard cameras to the staff of Traffic Wing and local police. "Student Traffic Volunteer Scholarship Scheme" has drawn appreciation from all and has been adopted by State Govt. for implementation in other cities of the State.
I appeal to all the members of Commissionerate Police to discharge their duties with high standard of integrity, honesty and sense of commitment. I also appeal to the general public to join hands with us in making the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack safe and secure.
