IMPRISONMENT FOR 10 YEARS

 

Khandagiri PS Case No. 494 dtd. 24.10.2014 u/s 341/294/323/325/ 307/302/34 IPC was registered, investigated into and chargesheeted.

After conclusion of trial, Hon'ble Court of Addl. Sessions Judge, Bhubaneswar vide its judgment dtd. 24.07.2018 held the accused persons namely Biju@ Bhagirathi Das and Mithun Das guilty of the charges and sentenced to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for a term of 10 year(ten year) each for alleged commission of offence u/s 304(II)/34 IPC and to undergo R.I. for a period of six month for the alleged commission of offence u/s 323/34 of IPC. The substantive sentence shall run concurrently.

Commissioner of Police vide his letter No.10130/CP-CS dtd. 20.09.2018, No. 10131/CP-CS dtd. 20.09.2018 & letter No. 10134/CP-CS dtd. 21.09.2018 has commended the efforts of SI Sarbeswar Pradhan(Investigating Officer), Sri Satyabrata Bhoi, IPS,(Supervising Officer) and Sri P.K. Mishra(Spl. Public Prosecutor, Bhubaneswar) for their meticulous investigation, supervision and prosecution of the case leading to conviction.

IMPRISONMENT FOR 10 YEARS FOR COMMITTING SEXUAL ASSAULT ON A MINOR GIRL.

 

Mahila PS Case No. 335 dtd. 14.12.2015 u/s 376(2)(i)/506 IPC/6 POCSO Act was registered, investigated into and chargesheeted.

After conclusion of trial, Hon'ble Court of Addl. Sessions Judge, Bhubaneswar vide its judgment dtd. 30.04.2018 held the accused Bharat Sahoo guilty of the charges and sentenced him to undergo R.I. for 10(ten) years with payment of fine of Rs. 4,000/-(Rupees four thousand) in default to undergo R.I. of 06 (six) months for the offence u/s 6 of the POCSO Act. The convict Bharat Sahoo is also sentenced to undergo R.I. for 01 (one) year for the offence u/s 506 of the IPC.

Commissioner of Police vide his letter No. 6728/CP-CS dtd. 14.06.2018, No. 6730/CP-CS dtd. 14.06.2018 & letter No. 6732/CP-CS dtd. 14.06.2018 has commended the efforts of SI Sujata Behera (Investigating Officer), Addl. SP, Sri P.K. Swain, OPS(I) (Supervising Officer) and Sri Subrat Priyadarshi(Spl. Public Prosecutor, Bhubaneswar) for meticulous investigation, supervision and prosecution of the case leading to conviction.

IMPRISONMENT FOR 10 YEARS FOR COMMITTING SEXUAL ASSAULT ON A MINOR GIRL.

 

Chandaka PS Case No. 95 dtd. 23.08.2016 u/s 376(2)(i)/4 POCSO Act was registered, investigated into and chargesheeted.

After conclusion of trial, Hon'ble Court of Addl. Sessions Judge, Bhubaneswar vide its judgment dtd. 14.05.2018 held the accused Braja Baskey guilty of the charges and sentenced him to undergo R.I. for 10(ten) years with payment of fine of Rs. 4000/-(four thousand) in default to undergo R.I. of 06 (six) months for the offence u/s 376(2)(i) of the IPC.

Commissioner of Police vide his letter No. 6542/CP-CS dtd. 09.06.2018, No. 6544/CP-CS dtd. 09.06.2018 & letter No. 6546/CP-CS dtd. 09.06.2018 has commended the efforts of Inspr. Padmanav Pradhan (Investigating Officer), ACP, Sri Fagua Singh, OPS (Supervising Officer) and Sri Subrat Priyadarshi (Spl. Public Prosecutor, Bhubaneswar) for meticulous investigation, supervision and prosecution of the case leading to conviction.

 

 4.

IMPRISONMENT FOR LIFE

 

On 23.01.2016 at 12.45 p.m., complainant Goutam Nayak, S/o Jagannath Nayak of Harijan Basti, Capital Hospital Campus, Bhubaneswar had reported at Airfield PS that on 22.01.2016 at about 7 p.m. there was quarrel between his brother Pravat Nayak with his brother-in-law(husband of sister of his wife) Bijaya Nayak. Following which on that day at about 10 p.m., Bijaya Nayak along with Smt. Laxmi Nayak, Srimati Nayak, Sara Nayak, mother-in-law, elder sister-in-law, sister-in-law of Bijay Nayak respectively, Muna Nayak and Aju Nayak, son of Bijaya Nayak and Kirati Nayak, wife of Pravat Nayak conjointly attacked and murdered his brother Pravat Nayak and threw his dead body on the nearby Railway track tying a CHUNRI on his neck. Basing on this report, Airfield PS Case No. 16 dtd. 23.01.2016 u/s 302/201/34 IPC was registered and investigated into.

After completion of investigation, Chargesheet was submitted against accused persons namely 1) Bijaya Nayak, 2) Srimati@Sumati Nayak, 3) Kirati Nayak, 4) Sara@Sarati Nayak & 5) Laxmi Nayak u/s 302/201/34 IPC.

After conclusion of trial, Hon'ble Court of 2nd Addl. Sessions Judge, Bhubaneswar vide its judgment dtd. 31.03.2018 held the accused Bijaya Nayak guilty of the charges and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment for LIFE and to pay a fine of Rs. 2,000/-(rupees two thousand) only and in default thereof to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for 01(one) year more for the offence u/s 302 IPC and to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 02(two) years and to pay a fine of Rs. 2,000/-(rupees two thousand) only and in default thereof to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 03(three) months more for the offence u/s 201 IPC. The sentences are to run concurrently.

Commissioner of Police vide his letter No. 6144/CP-CS dtd. 30.05.2018, No. 6142/CP-CS dtd. 30.05.2018 & letter No. 6140/CP-CS dtd. 30.05.2018 has commended the efforts of Inspr. Priyabrata Dash(Investigating Officer), Sri P.D. Mohapatra, OPS-I (Supervising Officer) and Sri Balaram Deo(Addl. Public Prosecutor, Bhubaneswar) for meticulous investigation, supervision and prosecution of the case leading to conviction.

 

 5.

ONE YEAR RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT FOR VOLUNTARILY CAUSING HURT

 

On 05.06.2014 at 1.30 p.m., complainant Laxmi Priya Sethi, D/o Prakash Chandra Sethi at Siripur, Bhubaneswar had reported at Khandagir PS that on the same day at 9 a.m., while she was taking her bath near her well, the accused Pravat Sethi abused her in filthy language and assaulted her with a curve stick on her back, backside thigh and face causing injures. When her mother protested, she was also assaulted by means of a knife causing bleeding injuries to her person. The accused also threatened them to kill their entire family if they report to the police. Basing on this report, Khandagiri PS Case No. 281 dtd. 05.06.2014 u/s 341/323/294/354/ 326/307/506 IPC was registered and investigated into.

After completion of investigation, Chargesheet was submitted against accused persons namely Pravat Sethi u/s 341/323/294/354/ 326/307/506 IPC.

After conclusion of trial, Hon'ble Court of Addl. Sessions Judge, Bhubaneswar vide its judgment dtd. 25.04.2018 held the accused Pravat Sethi guilty and sentenced them to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for 01(one) year for the offence u/s 323 IPC.

Commissioner of Police vide his letter No. 5757/CP-CS dtd. 23.05.2018 & letter No. 5758/CP-CS dtd. 23.05.2018 has commended the efforts of ASI P.K. Pradhan (Investigating Officer) and Sri Suresh Kumar Barik (Addl. Public Prosecutor, Bhubaneswar) for meticulous investigation and prosecution of the case leading to conviction.

 

 6.

LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR COMMITTING MURDER

 

On 09.08.2010 at 9.20 a.m., complainant Rasana Batu, W/o Nrusingha Batu of Badusahi, Old Town, Bhubaneswar had reported at Lingaraj PS that on 08.09.2010 night, some unknown culprits murdered her son and thrown the dead body at Subarneswar Temple Kotitirtha Lane, Old Town, Bhubaneswar. Basing on this report, Lingaraj PS Case No. 114 dtd. 09.08.2010 u/s 302 IPC was registered and investigated into.

After completion of investigation, Chargesheet was submitted against accused persons namely 1) Kunia@Manoranjan Mohapatra, 2) Bubun@Akhaya Mohapatra and 3) Bapuni@Chandan Mohapatra u/s 302/120(B)/34 IPC.

After conclusion of trial, Hon'ble Court of Addl. Sessions Judge, Bhubaneswar vide its judgment dtd. 05.02.2018 held the accused Kunia@Manoranjan Mohapatra and Bubun@Akhaya Mohapatra guilty and sentenced them to undergo imprisonment for LIFE with payment of fine of Rs. 5,000/- (Rupees five thousand) only each in default they are to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for 06(six) months each for the offence u/s 302/34 IPC.

Commissioner of Police vide his letter No. 5340/CP-CS dtd. 15.05.2018, No. 5342/CP-CS dtd. 15.05.2018 & letter No. 5343/CP-CS dtd. 15.05.2018 has commended the efforts of Inspr. Alok Kumar Jena(Investigating Officer), Sri Himansu Kumar Lal (Supervising Officer) and Sri Biren Kumar Panda (Public Prosecutor, Khurda at Bhubaneswar) for meticulous investigation, supervision and prosecution of the case leading to conviction.

 

 7.

LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR COMMITTING MURDER

 

On 31.08.2010 at 12.35 p.m., Complainant ASI Pramod Chandra Mohanty of Khandagiri PS, Bhubaneswar UPD reported before IIC, Khandagiri PS that on the same day while he was performing day patrolling at about 9.30 a.m. he found a male dead body aged about 35-40 years lying near Bhaiji Restaurant with injury on his person. There were two pieces of blood stained stones lying nearby the dead body for which he suspected that some unknown persons had killed the deceased by those stones. On this report Khandagiri PS Case No. 313 dtd. 31.08.2010 u/s 302 IPC was registered and investigated into. During investigation identity of the deceased has been established as Ramesh Nayak, driver of auto rickshaw bearing Regd. No. OR 02 AH 0934.

After completion of investigation, Chargesheet was submitted against accused Nilu@Bai@Niranjan Behera under Section 302/394 IPC for trial in the court of law.

After conclusion of trial, Hon'ble Court of Addl. Sessions Judge, Bhubaneswar vide its judgment dtd. 25.09.2017 held the accused Nilu@Bai@Niranjan Behera guilty u/s 302/394 IPC and accordingly, convicted accused Bai@Nilu@Niranjan Behera who was sentenced to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for LIFE with payment of fine of Rs. 5,000/-(five thousand) only in default to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for six months for the offence u/s 302 IPC and Rigorous Imprisonment for ten years with payment of fine of Rs. 3,000/- (three thousand) only in default to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for six months for offence u/s 394 IPC. Both sentences shall run concurrently.

Commissioner of Police vide his letter No. 10275/CP-CS dtd. 10.11.2017, 10277/CP-CS dtd. 10.11.2017 & 10278/CP-CS dtd. 10.11.2017 has commended the efforts of Ex-SI, Sri Aditya Kumar Sethi (Investigating Officer), Sri Himansu Kumar Lal, IPS (Supervising Officer) and Sri Suresh Kumar Barik (Addl. Public Prosecutor, Bhubaneswar) for meticulous investigation, supervision and prosecution of the case leading to conviction.

 

 8.

SEVEN YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT TO MINOR GIRL

 

On 16.08.2013 at 6.25 p.m., Complainant Somanath Behera, Age-35 Years, S/o Tuna Behera of Qr. No. G-23, Mali Colony, PO/PS-Kharavelnagar, Dist.-Khurda reported at Bhubaneswar Mahila PS that on 15.08.2013, his daughter Sujata Behera, Age-14 years who reads in Class-IX at Unit-II Girls High School, Bhubaneswar had been to attend independence day parade at her school and did not return to his house. On 16.08.2013 at 10.30 a.m. his daughter contacted him over a telephone and inform him that one Laxmi Pati and his cousin brother have kidnapped her and kept her concealed somewhere. Basing on this report, Mahila PS Case No. 213 dtd. 16.08.2013 u/s 363/34 IPC was registered and investigated into.

After completion of investigation, Chargesheet was submitted against accused Mithun Kumar Sahu@Ajay Kumar Sahu under section 363/366(A)/344/376/ 506/34 IPC/4 POCSO Act & JCL Laxmi@Laxmipriya Pati under Section 363/34 IPC for trial in the court of law.

After conclusion of trial, Hon'ble Court of Addl. Sessions Judge, Bhubaneswar vide its judgment dtd. 30.06.2017 held the accused Mithun Kumar Sahu guilty u/s 4 POCSO Act and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment for seven years with payment of fine of Rs. 15,000/-(Rupees fifteen thousand only) in default to undergo R.I. for six months.

Subhasini Mohapatra(Investigating Officer), Sri Pradeep Kumar Pattnaik, OPS-I, Retd. (Supervising Officer) and Sri Subrat Priyadarshi (Spl. Public Prosecutor, Khurda at Bhubaneswar) for meticulous investigation, supervision and prosecution of the case leading to conviction.

 

9.

LIFE TERM FOR KILLING SPOUSE

 

On 16.02.2010 at 4.00 p.m., Complainant Mamina Pattanaik, Age-21 Years, D/o Sisir Kanta Pattanaik of Village-Anlajodi, PS-Kanas, Dist.- Puri reported at Jatni PS that on the same day in the noon her sister Iti Pattanaik has been assaulted and killed by her husband Rajesh Pattanaik due to demand of cash. On this report Jatni PS Case No. 27 dtd. 16.02.2010 u/s 498(A)/302 IPC was registered and investigated into.

After completion of investigation, Chargesheet was submitted against accused Rajesh Kumar Pattnaik under Section 498(A)/302 IPC/4 D.P.Act for trial in the court of law.

After conclusion of trial, Hon'ble Court of Addl. Sessions Judge, Bhubaneswar vide its judgment dtd. 25.04.2017 held the accused Rajesh Pattnaik guilty u/s 302/498(A) IPC and accordingly, convicted accused Rajesh Pattnaik and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment for LIFE with payment of fine of Rs. 5,000/-(Rupees five thousand) only in default to undergo R.I. 06(six) months for offence u/s 302 IPC, and rigorous imprisonment for 03(three) years and to pay fine of Rs. 1,000/-(Rupees one thousand) only in default to undergo R.I. for 04(four) months for offence u/s 498(A) IPC. Both the sentences will run concurrently.

Commissioner of Police vide his letter No. 3991/CP-CS dtd. 12.05.2017, 3990/CP-CS dtd.12.05.2017 & 3993/CP-CS dtd.12.05.2017 has commended the efforts of SI, Sri Gangadhar Das (Investigating Officer), Sri Himansu Kumar Lal, IPS (Supervising Officer) and Sri Suresh Kumar Barik (Addl. Public Prosecutor, Khurda at Bhubaneswar) for meticulous investigation, supervision and prosecution of the case leading to conviction.

 

 10.

MAN GETS LIFER FOR KILLING OVER LAND DISPUTE

 

On 14.7.2008, Kabi Behera and Arjun Behera, being instigated by Baby  Mujan @ Sk. Tohid, a real estate dealer,  murdered Kalandi Patra in a paddy field at Ebaranga Mouza under Airfield PS limits over a dispute relating to an illegal  land deal. In  this connection, Airfield PS Case No.181 dtd.14.7.2008 u/s 302/34 IPC was registered and investigated into.  A prompt investigation followed during which accused  Kabi Behera was arrested, weapon of offence recovered  and the case chargesheeted u/s 302/114/34 IPC.

In its judgement dtd.31.3.2011 Hon'ble Adhoc Addl. Sessions Judge, FTC-IV, Bhubaneswar convicted accused Kabi Behera u/s 302/34 IPC to undergo  rigorous imprisonment for life and to pay a fine of INR 5,000/-.

 

 11.

LIFE TERM FOR KILLING SPOUSE

 

In the intervening night of 12/13.2.2008, Narasingha Jena @ Bhalu  murdered his wife Smt. Basanti Jena suspecting her involvement in   an extra -marital affair and later burnt her body by pouring kerosene over it. In  this connection, Sahidnagar PS Case No.64 dtd. 14.2.2008 U/s 302 IPC was registered and investigated into. Accused husband Narasingha Jena was promptly arrested and forwarded to judicial custody.

In its judgement dtd.15.5.2011, the Hon'ble Addl. Sessions Judge, FTC-IV, Bhubaneswar convicted accused Narasingha Jena u/s 302 IPC to undergo imprisonment for life with a fine of INR 10,000/-.

 

 12.

LIFE TERM FOR KILLING SPOUSE

 

On 06.6.10 night, accused Surya Nayak, an alcoholic, strangulated his wife Chanchala Nayak to death. In this connection, Mahila  PS Case No. 72 dtd. 7.6.2010 u/s 498(A)/302 IPC was registered and investigated into. During course of investigation the  accused husband was arrested and forwarded to judicial custody and the case chargesheeted against him.

In its judgement dtd. 27.6.2011, the Hon'ble Adhoc Addl. Judge, FTC-3, Bhubaneswar convicted accused Surya Nayak u/s 302 IPC to undergo imprisonment for life and rigorous imprisonment for three years u/s 498(A) IPC.

 

 13.

UNCLE DUO GETS LIFE TERM FOR KILLING NIECE

 

On 17.5.2007 night Ranjan Kumar Pati and Sukanta Pati brutally murdered their niece Pinky @  Anusaya Pati by torching her  to death  during dead hours of the night, after  suspecting  her involvement in a love affair.  The incident was initially registered as a case of unnatural death on the report of family members, but later, it was turned to Balianta PS Case No. 109 dtd. 7.6.2008 U/s 436/302/201/34 IPC  after an eye witness appeared before the electronic media and disclosed  it as a case of murder, allegedly committed by the family members themselves. After painstaking investigation, the case was chargesheeted  the uncles of the deceased girl.

In its judgement dtd. 9.9.2011, Hon'ble Adhoc Sessions Judge, FTC-3, Bhubaneswar convicted accused Ranjan Kumar Pati  and Sukanta Pati u/s 302/34 IPC to undergo imprisonment for life and fine of INR1000/- , to undergo rigorous imprisonment for five years and fine of INR 1000/- u/s 436/34 IPC  as well as to undergo  rigorous imprisonment for one year u/s 201/34 IPC.

 

 14.

LIFE TERM FOR SENSATIONAL MURDER OF JUDO COACH BIRANCHI DAS

 

On 13.4.2008 evening dreaded anti-social Raja @  Sandeep Acharya alongwith accomplice   Chagala @ Akhaya Behera shot the famous  Judo Coach Biranchi Das to death at Judo Hall, Bhubaneswar.  In this connection, Badagada PS Case No. 64 dtd. 13.4.08 u/s 302/34 IPC r.w. 25/27 Arms Act was registered and investigated into.  After meticulous probe and  painstaking collection of  credible forensic, technical, documentary evidences including Polygraph test, CDR analysis, Voice Spectrograph  analysis etc., , accused Raja @ Sandeep Acharya and Chagala @ Akhaya Behera were  chargesheeted  in the case. The trial of the case was also closely monitored.

In a land mark judgement dtd. 13.12.10, the Hon'ble Court of Adhoc. Addl. Sessions Judge, FTC-3, Bhubaneswar convicted accused Raja @ Sandeep Acharya and Chagala @ Akhaya Behera u/s 302/34 IPC to undergo imprisonment for life and to pay a fine of INR 10,000/- each, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for seven years u/s 120-B IPC as well as rigorous imprisonment for three years u/s 25/27 Arms Act.

 

 15.

MURDER MOST FOUL

 

On 10.3.2010 night, Sachi @ Kalia Bhoi  alongwith accomplice Paga @ Suchitra Mallik strangulated deceased Bapi @ Lingaraj Muduli to death over a dispute relating to distribution of daily wage money,  threw the deadbody from a culvert on Bhubaneswar-Jatni road and fled from the spot. In this connection, Airfield PS Case No. 27. dtd. 11.3.2010 u/s 302/34 IPC was registered and investigated into. After completion of investigation, the case was chargesheeted against Sachi @ Kalia Bhoi u/s 364/302/34 IPC and investigation kept open for collection of further evidence in respect of accused Suchitra Mallik.

In its judgement dtd. 29.11.11, Adhoc Addl. Sessions Judge, FTC, Bhubaneswar convicted accused Sachi @ Kalia Bhoi u/s 302/34 IPC to undergo life imprisonment and to pay a fine of INR 2,000/- as well as to undergo rigorous imprisonment  for three years and to pay a fine INR 2,000/- u/s 364/34 IPC.

 

 16.

CONVICTION OF A DREADED ANTI-SOCIAL

 

On the intervening night of 17/18.12.10 on receipt of credible information, a  police team chased dreaded anti-social Siba @ A. Enktesh for his involvement in a robbery case of Sahidnagar PS. Siba @ A.Enktesh opened fire at the police team to facilitate his escape but the police  personnel returned fire and apprehended the dreaded criminal. The weapon of offence, life ammunitions and cash was also recovered from his possession. In this connection Infocity PS Case No. dtd. 143 dtd. 18.12.2010 u/s 307/332/34 IPC r.w 25/27 Arms Act was registered and investigated into.

In its judgement dtd. 29.11.11, the Hon'ble Court of Addl. CJM.ASJ, Bhubaneswar convicted accused  Siba @ A.Enktesh u/s 307 IPC as well as  rigorous imprisonment for three years each and two months each for offences u/s 25(1-B)(a) and 27(1) of Arms Act.
